Destination wedding at Borgo Stomennano

29 June 2019

Lauren and Paul colorful whimsical destination wedding at Borgo Stomennano in Tuscany.

The venue…

Borgo Stomennano is a magical venue with striking views on the vineyards and the rolling Tuscan hills near Siena.  The borgo is the perfect place for a destination wedding like this one because it includes a totally refurbished medieval village that can accomodate up to 40 people among the villa and the farmhouses. The entire wedding, planned by Olivia Sodi, was open air with fairy lights strung everywhere and ribbons and tea lights hanging from the trees.

The wedding…

Lauren & Paul wanted a wedding to be fun and full of colours with a really relaxed vibe; good food, music and wine, embracing all the stunning scenery around. The best way to describe the theme is colorful and whimsical with classic, rustic Italian touches. The flowers by Voglia di Verde were so beautiful; wild and colorful and vibrant, the couple requested a thistle flower so they could have a little bit of Scotland with them which was a lovely personal touch. The aperitivo was on the front lawn with a view of Monteriggioni as the sun began to set with the Old Florence Dixie Band playing and the guests standing around drinking or sitting on the traditional lawn furniture.

For the alfresco wedding dinner they had one long table curved along the fairy light strewn courtyard with rustic seating, vintage style mismatched plates and pastel coloured glasses with colourful tall candles and flowers. The bride had written the table plan on a blackboard which was then dressed with some foliage and flowers. They had speeches followed by classic Italian food and then cut the cake with a pop of champagne! The bride changed her drees into a party one and they all moved to the pool area for the first dance and had an amazing night of drinking and dancing. Ended with an unexpected groom’s dive into the pool with his groomsmen!

Silvia and Tommaso were an absolute dream to work with and captured our day so perfectly. We knew we wanted our photographs to be fun and candid and they really delivered. The photos tell the story of our wedding so well and allow us to relive our favorite day whenever we want to. We were able to meet with them on a couple of visits before the wedding so we felt really comfortable and familiar with them on the day and they we were there until the very last song ended!
